The DESIGN SPECIFICATION

Read the Client Brief for your unit

Create a Design specification for the client, most include the following,

  1. An introduction
  2. Write about who your client is and an explanation of what they want
  3. What you are planning to do / build and why  (Be explicit - I will make a website, I will make a 6 page website which will include a video of the seaside, this will engage the audience and show them what the local area looks like..)
  4. Discuss what type of produce / ideas you could make - these could form part of your ideas

  1. Describe the final product that you will make and justify your choices -  (why are to you going to do what you are doing! This relates back to what the client said they wanted in the client brief)
  2. Reasons for making the product how it will meet the what the client's needs (size, font, colours, music, logos, information, text etc)
  3. What software will you use and why - (could include why you are not using other software e.g. paint)

  1. Design ,sketch, draw, model, screen shot the product that you are going to make, select and use different forms of navigation site planning techniques, i.e. mood boards, spider diagrams, mind mapping, site plans, house-style, hand-drawn templates, example
  2. Create a house style (click the link for further details)
  3. Check the write up and make sure it makes sense.
